FFF is run by a board consisting of six members, four of whom are appointed by the member companies and one by SINTEF Materials Technology which manages FFF.
The Research Council of Norway (NFR) and the Federation of Norwegian Process and Manufaturing Industries (PIL) is represented by observers at board meetings.

Five steering committees have been appointed with representatives from each member company. These steering committees set the targets, make research plans and follow up the research work, each committee being responsible for a group of projects.
