FFF is run by a board consisting of seven members, six of whom are appointed by the member companies and one by SINTEF Materials and Chemistry which manages FFF.
The Research Council of Norway and Norsk Industri are represented by observers at board meetings.

Five steering committees have been appointed with representatives from each member company. These steering committees set the targets, make research plans and follow up the research work, each committee being responsible for a group of projects.
