FFF is operated as a non-profit organization. The operating expenses are covered by research grants from The Research Council of Norway, members fee and specific contributions to some research projects from member companies and others.

The total annual budgets are normally between 20 and 25 million NOK, 40 - 50% are research grants from the Research Council.
